Ci spośród nas, którym przyszło mieszkać i pracować w hrabstwie Devon są dumni z naszego rejonu. Pragniemy, by był on najbardziej zielonym hrabstwem Anglii, z prężnie działającymi społecznościami lokalnymi otwartymi na otoczenie i drugiego człowieka. Pragniemy również uzyskać jak najlepszą jakość życia będącą gwarancją zrównażonego rozwoju w przyszłości.
Those of us who live and work in Devon are proud of our county. We want it to be England’s greenest county, with strong local communities that are prosperous and welcoming with an excellent quality of life and a sustainable future. We hope that those who live here long term and those that visit for just a short time enjoy being here and make the most of the opportunities that are available to them and help to contribute to that aim.
W ciągu ostatnich kilku lat staliśmy się świadkami rosnącej liczby emigrantów przybywających do naszego hrabstwa z innych krajów. Niektórzy przybywają w celach zarobkowych, inni by nauczyć się języka angielskiego, jeszcze inni po to,by poznać kulturę naszego kraju. Jedni decydują się jedynie na krótki pobyt, podczas gdy inni osiedlają się w naszym regionie na stałe. Wszyscy bez wyjątku stanowią część naszej lokalnej społeczności i mamy nadzieję, że czerpiąc z tego przyjemność przyczyniają się do coraz lepszego prosperowania naszego regionu.
Over the last few years we have become aware of increasing numbers of people who are moving here from other countries. People come here for many reasons – perhaps to earn money, to learn the language or to experience a different culture. Some intend only to stay for a short time whilst others settle permanently. However long you intend to stay you become part of our community and we hope that you enjoy your time here and play your part in making the county an even better place to live.

It is not always easy to settle in a new country and we have put together this Guide to give you advice about a wide range of issues which we hope will be useful for you. It also gives you information about what is expected of you as a member of our community. Sometimes, your customs may seem different and it may take a little time for us to get to know one another. We hope that this Guide will help you to overcome any problems you might have and to help you to understand some of our customs as you settle into Devon’s way of life.
